RULES FOR THE PICKS COMPETITION 2023
1. The competition is open to anyone. Previous
players will always be given priority, in
the unlikely event of there being more than the maximum number of 60 players.
There is no entrance fee or prizes offered, although a donation to Brians Wish
would be nice, in appreciation for us using Trackforum's site. Please visit
www.brianswish.com for further
information and to donate via
www.hendrickscountycf.org
2. Players will only be able to join the competition up to the start of the 1st
practice session of the season. If a player from the
previous season misses this deadline, then this player will be able to join up
until the deadline of the third race, on the following basis:- They will be
awarded a starting score, equaling the lowest of the current players. They will
also be awarded the lowest points in the Drivers / Constructors Tables, as a one
off points addition, at the end of the season but the lowest points score in
that table will be used during the season. (This is to prevent previous players,
who are experiencing illness or computer issues, to still be a part of the
competition).
3. Prior to the start of Practice 1, for each race weekend, players must
submit their picks, on the Trackforum website,
https://www.trackforum.org/forum/motorsports/formula-one-usgp, for the relevant race. Anyone can start the race
thread, if it hasn't already been started.
4. The following Race Picks, must be submitted before each race
1st practice: -
Pole Position, AFTER any penalty is applied, prior to the 1st start of the race. 3 points
Slowest Qualifier, with a time in Q1, Q2 or Q3, BEFORE any penalty is applied. 3 points
Slowest from top 4 teams from the previous season
(So, for the
start of
2023, will be from VER, PER, LEC, SAI, HAM, RUS, OCO
& GAS. If a team changes drivers during the season, then the new driver that
is then in the top 4 teams will be used)
Fastest Lap. 3 points
Number of cars on the lead lap at the end of the race. 3 points
Top 10 Drivers, scoring 25, 18, 15, 12, 10, 8, 6, 4, 2 and 1 point respectively. A bonus of
3 points for each driver's position correctly selected. In addition, a bonus of
10 points will be added for picking the podium order correctly, or 5 points for
the correct podium drivers, not in order.
5. The following Picks must be submitted before the first session of
1st race of the season : -
The top 10 Drivers of the seasons World Championship, scored the same as per the
top 10 Drivers for a race.
Pick the race number in which the Drivers World Championship is decided. 3 points.
The top 10 Constructors of the seasons World Championship, scored the same as per
the top 10 Drivers for a race.
Pick the race number in which the Constructors World Championship is decided. 3 points.
6. After race 1, players who post their Picks after the start of Practice 1, will be
deemed MISSED and the previous Picks will be
used (still deducted 3 points). If the player fails to post the Picks before the
first session of the following race weekend, they will (be deducted 6
points). This penalty will increase every race, by 3 points. The player will be
REMOVED from the game, if no Picks are posted for 5 consecutive races,
(unless exempt by Rule 8).
7. Once you have posted your picks for the weekend, feel free to 'edit' your post, up until the start of Practice 1. Any 'editing' after that time and all the picks will be deemed MISSED and a 3 point penalty applied and your picks from the previous race used.
8. If a player is scheduled to go away for a period, which might affect
continuity in the competition, then please state that in the last Picks that you
can post. State when you want the Picks to run to. They will then be used until
that date, with no penalties.
9. The results used, will be those posted on the
https://www.formula1.com/ website.
10. If a player makes more than one picks post, in a race weekend, the last post will be the picks used.
11. After race 1. if a player 'misses' a pick in their post, instead of being given an 'N/A', where possible, the previous race pick for that 'missed' entry will be used. If that is not possible, then the closest unused pick from the previous race will be used. (forward first, then backward, ie. pick 5 would use the first unused pick of the following 4, 6, 3, 7 etc.). If this is still not possible, then it would be N/A.
12. If a team temporarily replaces a driver, for whatever reason, then the replacement driver will score as the original driver.
13. Validation of the top 10 picks is now used, to highlight duplicate entries. Where there is a duplicate entry, the first entry of the duplicate is used. The second duplicate pick will then be replaced by the closest unused pick from the previous race. (Same position, then forward, then backward, ie. pick 5 would use the first unused pick of the following 5, 4, 6, 3, 7 etc.). If this is still not possible, then it would be N/A.
14. If a situation arises that is not covered by the above rules, then a fair and commonsense decision will be made and that decision will be final.
(Changes from previous years rules are in red).
